My heritage is Wakka Wakka and Waanyi from this land we call Australia. This is my blood from Australia and my family members and tribal countrymen and women also identify with the same inheritance. I live on KukuYelandji country and some of my family hold this bloodline also. I also have heritage from Italy, my grandparents arrived here during the 1930's. I embrace all my heritages, so that I can be a healthy balanced person who knows who she is. When we know who we are, we remain genuine. When we remain genuine, we conduct ourselves with respect, for ourselves and each-other. As multicultural as Australia is and will continue to be, we must take care to move forward with respect for each-other.
This forum is to engage in meaningful discussion regarding the journey we have shared as Australians and what kind of future we would like to build together, peacefully and respectfully. As Australians we all have our own unique histories and many of us have survived great challenges to be here. Turtle Yarns is about creating First Nations Australian Education for all Australians, so we can better understand each others viewpoint.
Please, make a comment below regarding how you feel about First Nations Australians taking the reigns when it comes to educating all Australians about our history?
Be respectful and take some time to think about what you're saying and how it reflects upon who you are and who you would like to become. 🤗
